Where does your rubbish go?
You may wonder where your rubbish goes to once it has been collected from your home or your work place. In most instances, the rubbish is collected and taken to a local landfill where the rubbish is disposed off. Landfills consist of a large area in which rubbish is buried a considerable distance underground. This prevents any hazardous gases from causing problems as well as the potential for smells to seep out.
However, in some instances, rubbish is taken to a sorting point, where the rubbish is sifted through to ensure that there are no items being put into the rubbish that could potentially be recycled.
Recycling is high on the British government agenda and they are keen to have every household in the UK recycling some of their waste. Councils also realise the problem that excessive waste can produce so they are providing their residents with different coloured bins to aid and assist them when it comes to rubbish collection day.
Although this work well in theory, in practice, some household items cannot be recycled and it is for this reason that waste management companies are springing up to help those with their waste removal requirements.
