Increase in demand for waste management companies

There has been a warm reception to the plans suggested by the Secretary for the Environment, Caroline Spellman since it was announced that the Coalition Government are planning a massive overhaul of how we handle our waste in the UK. Many waste management companies are welcoming the ideas to reform a system, which is, at best, not very productive in some areas of the country.

Caroline Spellman spelt out that the Government wished to create a ‘zero waste society’ and that there would be a comprehensive review of all things relating to recycling, waste management and waste disposal within the UK.

The review, which would be carried out by Defra, the Department for Energy and Climate Change and the Department for Communities and Local Government in addition to contributions from all Local Authorities.

This is an enormous step forward for the recycling and waste management industry and it is likely that there will be a significant increase in the awareness of the need for recycling and effective waste management which in turn will create more business for waste management companies. This is an important development, especially within the current economic climate.
