South Northamptonshire Council shakes up waste collection services
South Northamptonshire District Council has big plans for waste collection services in the area, as they aim to implement changes that will allow them to cut costs and make the services much more efficient for residents.
Changes
Planned changes to the existing system include changing the day or schedule for waste collections for around 9, 500 households in the South Northamptonshire area. Whilst not everyone will be affected by all changes, it’s expected that all areas will be required to put their bins out for collection by the new time of 7am.
Benefits
The aim of the new scheme is to thoroughly streamline the council’s waste disposal operation to make it easier and more efficient for residents and to save money. In fact, the council are expecting to see savings of around £117,000 a year after the scheme is launched.
The Disctrict Council also believe the changes will help the area boost its green credentials, by increasing recycling rates whilst cutting down on carbon emissions. The improved system will mean that the council uses a smaller number of vehicles to carry out the same number of collections.
The changes to the service will be implemented from Monday 10th May.
