Fears that cuts could be made to the recycling and waste schemes after the budget

After the announcement of the budget on Wednesday, it has emerged that there are concerns that the new Coalition Government not taking the matter of waste recycling seriously enough according to a number of energy and recycling companies.

Although it appears that there are going to be harsh cuts for everybody, there seems to be little interest over what will happen over the coming parliament with regard to waste and recycling and how individuals as well as businesses need to approach these matters.

Waste and recycling is a very sensitive issue and most local authorities take guidance from central government in terms of how many collections should take place and also what can and cannot be recycled.

Energy and waste companies are concerned that waste and recycling will be targeted when it comes to making serious cuts in the public sector and many influential individuals have warned against this, stating that it would result in Britain going back to its old ways when it comes to the management and disposal of waste. Many believe the waste and recycling will be seen as an easy target that could withstand a cut in budget, however this is clearly not the case.
